Explore the world's paintings, right inside ChatGPT.
Art Explorer turns a plain-language request into a curated set of paintings drawn from open collections. Search by subject, era, or theme, browse the results in the conversation, and open any work to see its details and original sources.
What you can do
Search the way you think
Ask for paintings by subject, period, place, or theme. Art Explorer translates the request into a structured query against open art data.
Browse results inline
Matching works appear in a carousel right in the conversation, so you can scan and compare without leaving ChatGPT.
Open any work for detail
Tap a painting to see the artist, date, medium, collection, and a short summary, with the full image uncropped.
Follow the sources
Every work links out to Wikipedia, Wikidata, and its Wikimedia Commons file page, so you can keep reading from the original record.
Where the content comes from
Art Explorer is a window onto freely licensed cultural data. It does not host or sell artwork.
Artworks, facts, and images are sourced from Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata, projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Images are in the public domain or available under Creative Commons licenses. Each work in the app shows its creator, the image license, and a link back to the original Wikimedia Commons file so attribution stays with the work.
All trademarks and source content belong to their respective owners and the Wikimedia projects.
Private by design
Art Explorer has no accounts and collects no personal information. A search is used only to find matching artworks, and production requests are not logged. Read the full privacy policy and terms of service.
